Brent A. Kokubun, M.D.
Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery
Dr. Brent Kokubun is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the surgical and non-surgical management of conditions of the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. His interests include treatment of bunions/hammertoes, flatfoot and deformity correction, arthritis and degenerative conditions, athletic injuries, fracture care, ankle replacement, and minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques.
His passion for medicine and service began during college at UCLA, where he studied bioengineering. He continued onto medical school in Chicago at the University of Illinois, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at UCSF-Fresno, which provided a high volume and hands-on experience in treating orthopaedic injuries and trauma. As a final step, Dr. Kokubun pursued a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Congress Orthopaedic Associates/Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he had the privilege of training under some of the most prominent orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons throughout Southern California.
Dr. Kokubun dedicated his career to foot and ankle surgery, as he believes it is one of the most diverse fields of orthopaedics that can impact a person’s quality of life in so many different aspects, ranging from small to very complex problems. He takes to heart the responsibility of a surgeon to provide patients with a genuine understanding of their diagnosis and treatment options, utilize non-operative management as a first line, and to make shared decisions with each patient specific to their lifestyle and goals. Dr. Kokubun is excited to serve and provide quality orthopaedic care to the San Gabriel Valley and Greater Los Angles area where he trained. When he is not caring for his patients, he enjoys surfing and beach activities, watching his native Bay Area sports teams, and traveling to new cities.
